Turnpenny was slightly older than me at the College, a House Prefect as I recall from Crescent House, who joined up with us in Leamington when we were evacuated down to Poltimore. Never a close friend but a respected contemporary at school, I was delighted to meet him again at the sad Poltimore get-together when there was some chance of the house being restored. I know how much he has done over the years for the College and how much respect and affection this brought him.
I shall be taking the 10.12 high speed train from St Pancras International (arr Dover Priory at 11.20) on Friday to attend John’s funeral.
If anybody wishes to join me and meet at St Pancras, please get in touch.
