Dear Old Dovorian
As we enter another lockdown, I had originally wanted to write to you all to thank you all for the absolutely fantastic response to my request for your news and stories for the winter edition of the “Dovorian News”.
I have to be honest; I am truly humbled by and appreciative of your response. The communication team has received news ranging from OD’s who have shared their personal experiences as pupils at Poltimore during the evacuation of the School during the Second World War, with its subsequent return to Dover in 1945, to the experiences of starting at University during a Pandemic.
This is in addition to the usual features, which we covered in the Summer edition, “OD’s under the Spotlight”, “OD Members’ News” and “OD Club News”, to name a few.
The winter edition of the Dovorian News will be published during the early part of December, so please keep an eye out for your copy. The electronic version will be emailed directly to you via email, also there will be posts with links to download your copy via the Club’s social media platforms and it will be published on the Club’s website.
As a result of the new lockdown here in the UK, as outlined in the Prime Minister’s news conference on the 31st October, not to mention similar circumstances in many countries that OD’s reside in, it is even more important now, that we continue to support and remain in contact with each other during this time. Thankfully, we can keep in touch with one another easily, no matter where we live.
If I could ask you to maintain contact with any OD’s that you know, and inform the OD Club at [email protected] of any news, that would be appreciated.
Let’s all remain safe and supportive, and we will get through this together.
Robert McAlpin (M71 – 76)
Old Dovorian Club President
