The Old Dovorian Club are pleased to be supporting Matt with his fundraiser in add of “The Teenage Cancer Trust” by running the 2024 London Marathon on Sunday 21st April.
The London Marathon first took place in 1981 and has become one of the most popular marathons in the world. The route takes in many of London’s best landmarks including Buckingham Palace, The Cutty Sark, Tower Bridge and Canary Wharf.
Matt used to run Cross Country for Dover College (he also ran the sponsored walks on a number of times too!) as well as running the 400m and 800m. He also won the Victor Ludorum on Sports Day a couple of times and set the odd record or two at different age categories.
Matt has continued his running after leaving Dover College and if it wasn’t for the support of our PE teachers at the school (notably Benn Smith) and Mr Farrant, who ran the cross country team, he  probably wouldn’t be in this position today in running the London Marathon, so it really did all begin back at Dover Collage !

The “Teenage Cancer Trust” make sure that young people have someone in their corner right from the start. Teenage Cancer Trust nurses and youth workers walk with young people from diagnosis through every step of their treatment, and for up to two years afterwards, so that they can recover and live life to the full.

The Teenage Cancer Trust offers unique care and support, designed for and with young people. they fund specialised nursesyouth workers and hospital units in the NHS, so young people have dedicated staff and facilities to support them throughout treatment.

The Teenage Cancer Trust also run events for young people with cancer to help them regain independence and meet other young people going through something similar.
