Old Dovorian Golfing Society: Annual visit to Tandridge Golf Club, Surrey Thursday 22 July 2021

We had some really great weather for another successful day at Tandridge with ten ODs competing for the prestigious Crescent Trophy. The event began with a proper lunch involving seafood starter, excellent carvery and plenty of desserts for those with a sweet tooth (there were quite a few takers for extra helpings!).

At 2pm, the first group tee’d off:  Nigel Tubman, David Walter and new member Gilbert Thompson. The next two groups of comprised of Charlie Scott, Michael Tubman, Justin Hatfield and a four ball of Mark Rumble, Michael Walter, Tony Robin and Bernie Anson

Some great golf was played and the winner was Charlie Scott on 33 points.  In second place was Gilbert Thompson on 32 points who edged Mark Rumble (also 32 points) into 3^rd place on countback. Charlie won the Crescent Trophy and along with the nearest the pin on 15^th, took home three bottles of wine and some balls. Gilbert won some wine and balls for 2nd place and Mark took home some wine and balls for 3^rd place and also the longest drive on the 9th.

A beer was taken afterwards along with a few platefuls of sandwiches and the boys departed in high spirits which is surprising because most were heading for the M25!

The remaining events are: Redlibbets on 3 September, Hever on 15 September, West Surrey Triangular on 11 October and the final event of the year will be held at Knole Park, Sevenoaks on 21 October.
