Old Dovorian Golf Society Match Report – Kings Hill Golf Course – 16th April 2021
OLD DOVORIAN GOLFING SOCIETY MATCH REPORT.
Our first event of 2021 was held at the Kings Hill Golf course a few miles west of Maidstone on Friday 16 April in glorious sunshine. We had a good turnout of 9 players from the ODGS and 14 players from the Old Lawrentians.
The course was playing very well but it was difficult to score well. The joint top scorers were Bruce Gear of the St Lawrentians and Robert Dicketts of the ODGS with 33 points.
Robert was awarded the Turner Plate, some decent wine and a sleeve of ODGS balls. The ODGS runner up was Mark Rumble with 31 points and his prize was a sleeve of ODGS balls.
I am delighted to announce that we are planning a golfing event with the College (perhaps involving staff, pupils/students and parents).
We plan to hold this at Etchinghill Golf Club near Hythe on the afternoon of Saturday 29 May. Please pencil the date in your diary and I will let you have more information once the idea has been firmed up with Jack Payne, Director of Sport at the College.
This event will be followed by our annual visit to Royal Ashdown Golf Club on Thursday 3 June. This foursome’s match involving morning and afternoon rounds, and interrupted by an excellent lunch, is against Kings Canterbury and St Lawrence and this will be its 60th year, the year that the ODGS was formed! We are short of one player or possibly two. If you are available and your handicap is around 18 or less or much less, then please let me know.
Later in the summer and autumn, we will be visiting North Foreland, Tandridge, Redlibbets, Hever Castle, West Surrey (another foursome’s match), Knole Park and finally the London Club in November.
Please contact me, Nigel Tubman, ODGS Captain via email; [email protected]
