I am delighted to introduce this edition of the Old Dovorian Lodge News, taking this timely opportunity to round up the year.
It certainly has been a busy year. We held a successful Dover Festival in June, in which we had the honour of welcoming all our Guests on the College Close with a Champagne Reception followed by the Festival dinner in the College Refectory, which was attended by 40 guests, together with the Lodge’s Guest of Honour Gareth Doodes MA. FRSA, Headmaster of the College, accompanied by his wife Jess; the festival was also graced by W. Bro David Graham APGM (E Kent) with his partner Vicky. One of the many high points of the evening was the presentation of a cheque for £500 to the Headmaster for the College’s charity “Young Minds”, on behalf of the Old Dovorian Lodge.
This year has also seen our numbers grow, which is a positive step forward and shows that the concerted activities at the initial phase of our rejuvenation plan are now starting to “bear fruit”. We continue to build our relationships with the College, the Province of East Kent, as well as our masonic and non-masonic friends. I would very much like to thank them all for their unflinching support. The same goes in no small measure to the members of the lodge for their support and the hard work they have delivered behind the scenes. It has been a joy to count on and receive your continued support.
Finally, I would like to wish you and yours a very Happy Christmas and Peaceful New Year!
