Kate Havrlik (B79-84) – 27th May 1967 – 6th January 2023

The Old Dovorian Club is sad to share the passing of Kate Havrlik in Brussels on the 6th January 2023.

Kate was brought up in Belgium and made her life there, working in Event Management, Radio and the Commission in Brussels, where she had renovated her house and raised her two sons, Santos and Dobro.

During her time at Dover College, Kate was in the Hockey and Netball Teams, representing the College, as well as being involved as Campaign Manager during mock elections, representing the Labour Party.  As a teenager, Kate was already a rebel with a cause.

Kate was vivacious, inimitable, intelligent, fun, passionate and caring.  She volunteered to help the victims of floods in Belgium as well as refugees, not to mention standing up for women’s rights.  Kate’s door was always open to her friends and she was known to jump on a flight and come to your rescue in your hour of need.

Kate leaves behind her sons, Santos and Dobro, as well as her parents, Judy and Stan, her sister, Debbie (D77-82), and her aunt, Audrey.  Our thoughts are with them and Kate’s many friends, of whom there were 300 present at her funeral service.

Give me an open road and a car …”
