The OD Club Kent Group had a very good evening last night at The Chambers with almost 30 attending. Ages ranged from stalwart supporter Frank Blewer (M72–77), to recent leavers in their early twenties.
John Coad, Nick Lockhart and Mike Vanderhoeven were former members of staff present and we were hosted by the ever-youthful Liz Smith.
It was a delight to meet up with Lexie Minter (M95–97) and she had a long chat with John Coad about DT Martins back in the day.
Edward Lewis (S79–84) the OD Club President was in fine form and enjoyed meeting some younger ODs. There were some surprising careers that people are now pursuing from train driver to menopause nurse to arborologist while others are in more traditional careers like accountancy, law, estate agents and engineering.
It was nice that Alyce Bailey, the Development Officer from the College, was there and she has arranged lunch and College tours for several ODs.
There was a desire to meet again in the new year (after everyone has enjoyed the Cocktail Party) and details will be circulated, and is hoped to be once again at The Chambers in Folkestone.
