Congratulations to Jack Fuller, (M64 – 69) on winning the OL Invitation Event at Redlibbets Golf Club yesterday . Jack not only had the longest drive from Belgium, but scored an amazing 41 points. A petition to his local Belgium golf club to have his handicap radially adjusted will probably be met with silence since we have no current European Agreement on such matters . Jack’s fine form not only secured him the OL Trophy and the nearest the pin on the 8th but also our prestigious OD John Turnpenny Jug , ( our President 1978 and 1990-1999).
We understand that Charlie’s fingers on winning the jug last year have not yet been prized off, however we may be able to secure it at Hever.
Jack’s score was closely followed by several OL’s and their guests. I will also express my gratitude to Nigel for assuming my duties during the day, being away on Grandparent and roof repairing duties for number one daughter in Nottingham for the past month. If anyone is having problems sleeping, I can send pictures of the roof repairs.
Nigel and Mark Rumble as consistent as ever each secured fine points scores of 32, with David Walter coming in with a very creditable 30.
Given the recent changeable weather, I expect everyone was very grateful for a reasonably fine day, even if there was a short shower. I am advised the course was in good condition, so I look forward to playing it next year, as I hope you all do. I trust Jack had a safe drive home, and will wait to drink the wine until he parks.
Our next Event is as you all know the Old Dovorians Captain’s Day Event on Tuesday 12th September. For more information please contact Gilbert Thompson the OD Golf Society Captain via the link button below
