The Old Dovorian Cricket Club Is Back!

The Old Dovorian Club are pleased to support and announce that after nearly 80 years, the Old Dovorian Cricket Club (ODCC) is once again back as an independent, stand-alone OD group within the OD Community.

This has only been achieved, because a group of Old Dovorians who have a love, passion and appreciation of the glorious game of cricket have joined together to re-establish the Old Dovorian Cricket Club, so once again OD Cricket teams will be gracing the cricket fields of East Kent as the Old Dovorian Cricket Club.

The Club are looking forward to this very exciting time, as it now forges its own path and future within the OD community as a whole.

The Old Dovorian Cricket Club are honoured, and have great pleasure to announce that Derek Aslett, who played for Kent County Cricket Club, has accepted the Clubs offer of becoming the Cricket Clubs first Patron.

Derek was educated at Dover Grammar School for Boys, and on leaving Dover Grammar, Derek went on to Leicester University, before starting his professional career with Kent in 1981.

As a result of re-establishing the Club into the OD Community, there are a number of key focus areas and principles that will be central to the Clubs future and growth.

  • To re-establish the Clubs links with Folkestone CC.
  • Continue to establish links, both social and playing relationships with other local cricket clubs and wandering sides within East Kent.
  • Encourage and engage with both playing and non-playing ODs, members of staff (past and present) of Dover College, their families and friends.
  • Create a fixture list for the Club, where matches are played at picturesque and iconic grounds, in and around Kent
  • Have a vibrant social side of the Club, which will include trips to watch county cricket in and around Kent, London and beyond.
  • To have fun, enjoy each other’s company, as well as watching and play some cricket.

The Club are pleased to confirm that 3 fixtures have already been confirmed for the 2024 season so far, and are currently looking towards building on the 2024 fixture list for the 2025 season.

Also, the Club is currently looking to organise day trips for members, family, and friends to watch some “County Championship” or “One Day Cup” competition matches during the 2024 season, of which dates will be published in due course.
